Aktobe Ferroalloys Plant

The plant produces high, medium and low-carbon ferrochrome, ferrosilicon and metal concentrate. Aktobe Ferroalloys Plant is the leading enterprise of Kazakhstan’s ferrous metallurgy sector. The Plant’s launch was marked by the first production of ferroalloys in the “Komsomolka” furnace in 1943.

Aktobe Ferroalloys Plant is a modern, consistently developing enterprise, the production volume of which is more than 740 thousand tons of ferroalloys per year.

  • The plant includes 2 smelting shops, a slag processing shop and auxiliary shops.
  • In September 2009, President Nazarbayev laid a symbolic capsule on the site of the start of construction of the plant’s new unit. On June 23, 2014, the Head of State launched the start-up and adjustment works.
  • Smelting Shop No. 4 is the newest unit of the enterprise. This shop uses an innovation technology of smelting in the direct current furnaces being a unique one not only for the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also for the global ferroalloys industry. The shop is equipped with the most efficient (72 MW) direct current furnaces in the world for the production of high-carbon ferrochrome. The whole process is automated as much as possible. The production solutions make it possible to dispose of the ferroalloys gas and dust. Domestic raw materials - fine ore and carbon reductants are used for the furnaces.
  • Particular attention is paid to safety and environmental protection. Additional activities are carried out to provide employees with therapeutic and preventative nutrition , personal protective equipment, social, medical and preventative measures and medical examinations.

They support children’s homes, replenish the fish balance of Aktobe’s water bodies, gladly join city clean-ups and tree planting campaigns, are among the first to run in regional and republican marathons and win intellectual and sporting competitions at various levels.
