Aktobe Ferroalloys Plant is a modern, consistently developing enterprise, the production volume of which is more than 740 thousand tons of ferroalloys per year.
- The plant includes 2 smelting shops, a slag processing shop and auxiliary shops.
- In September 2009, President Nazarbayev laid a symbolic capsule on the site of the start of construction of the plant’s new unit. On June 23, 2014, the Head of State launched the start-up and adjustment works.
- The company is proud of its new and unique smelting shop No. 4. It uses an innovative technology of smelting in DC furnaces, which is unique not only for Kazakhstan, but also for the global ferroalloys industry. The shop is equipped with the most powerful (72 MW) DC furnaces in the world for the production of high-carbon ferrochrome, which allows the use of fine chrome raw materials without pelletizing. The entire production process is highly automated. Production solutions ensure minimal environmental impact, allow the disposal of ferroalloy gas and dust, and significantly reduce the amount of solid emissions. These furnaces use domestic raw materials — fine ore and carbonaceous reducing agents.
- Particular attention is paid to safety and environmental protection. Additional activities are carried out to provide employees with therapeutic and preventative nutrition , personal protective equipment, social, medical and preventative measures and medical examinations.
Aktobe metallurgists actively participate in the corporate life of the company, city and regional events. They support children’s homes, replenish the fish balance of Aktobe’s water bodies, gladly join city clean-ups and tree planting campaigns, are among the first to run in regional and republican marathons and win intellectual and sporting competitions at various levels.
