Water supply for the new production complex is being strengthened in Aksu
Aksu Ferroalloys Plant is completing preparations for the commissioning of a new floating pumping station, which will ensure uninterrupted process water supply for the jigging complex currently under construction for the processing of fine slag fractions. The project is aimed at improving the reliability of the plant’s production infrastructure and ensuring the stable operation of the new production facility. Investments in the acquisition and implementation of the floating pumping station amounted to KZT 270 million.
The floating pumping station has been installed at Ash and Slimes Disposal Facility No. 3. The 87-tonne structure is mounted on a pontoon platform, which ensures stable operation and enables the station to be relocated as operating conditions change. The station houses the main and standby pumping units, as well as auxiliary equipment.
A high level of automation enables remote monitoring of process operations. The permanent presence of operating personnel is not required; specialists are engaged only for scheduled maintenance and repair works.
The station is designed for year-round operation, including operation in low-temperature conditions. The capacity of each pumping unit is up to 850 cubic meters of water per hour, fully meeting the requirements of the jigging complex under construction.
The facility is equipped with modern fire alarm, notification, access control and equipment monitoring systems. All process parameters and signals are transmitted in real time to the operator’s console of Clarified Water Pumping Station No. 2.
To ensure uninterrupted operation during the winter period, the station is equipped with an anti-icing system. A dedicated hydraulic system creates continuous water circulation around the hull, preventing ice formation and ensuring stable operation of the equipment even in severe frost.
“The new station will not only supply water to the jigging complex under construction, but, if necessary, will also be able to support the operation of Jigging Complex No. 2 thanks to an integrated pipeline system. This technical solution makes both pumping stations interchangeable and significantly improves the reliability of the plant’s process water supply system,” noted Project Supervisor Ildar Khairov.
Commissioning of the facility will mark an important stage in the development of the production infrastructure of Aksu Ferroalloys Plant, improve the reliability of the process water supply system and ensure the efficient operation of the new complex of the Slag Processing Shop.
