New crushing complex is being installed at Aksu ferroalloy plant

The Austrian plant will replace one of the three crushing and screening units in the finished product warehouse of Smelting Shop №6. With its help metallurgists plan to reduce the amount of fines in the finished products. Even at the stage of tests, which took place on the territory of the supplier, the equipment showed good results. Aksu metallurgists will check their expectations in the nearest future.

On the scale of production, it's significant to reduce fines amount because the small fraction is not in such demand. Therefore, the reduction of fines is one of the primary tasks of the plant's technologists.
The new hydraulic crusher ST-01, which is now installed in the warehouse of workshop № 6, as the supplier promises, is more reliable in service. Its overhaul period with correct handling and timely maintenance is higher than the analogues operating at the enterprise. At the same time, it is capable of processing up to 400 tons of ferroalloys per hour. The reduction of fines is achieved through a different crushing process: the crusher plates do not grind the product, but crush it.

- The movement of the mobile crusher plate follows a sinusoidal trajectory," says Mikhail Kasenyuk, Head of Production and Technical Department. - It allows to distribute the load correctly, and it results in uniform wear of a working surface of crushing plates. During our visit to the Austrian metallurgical plant "Voestaline", where similar crushers are used, we tested our products, having previously sent there a pilot batch of high-carbon ferrochrome. Even without special preparation the plant coped with the task, reducing the number of fines.

Start-up and pilot testing of the new equipment is scheduled for the end of March.
